MyEPO services – meeting users’ needs with colour drawings and a flexible filing option

As part of its ongoing digital transformation under Strategic Plan 2028, the European Patent Office (EPO) is pleased to announce two much-anticipated enhancements to its MyEPO services. This marks an important step towards the full rollout of the DOCX format in 2026 which will cover the entire digital patent granting process.

Brazil: European Commission published Draft Adequacy Decision recognizing Brazil’s data protection framework as adequate and initiates the formal process

On 5 September 2025, the European Commission published the Draft Adequacy Decision recognizing Brazil as a country that ensures an adequate level of protection for personal data, pursuant to Article 45 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This proposal marks the beginning of the formal procedure to authorize the transfer of personal data from the European Union to Brazil without the need for additional safeguards, effectively treating such transfers as equivalent to those occurring within the EU.
