WIPO: Coming on January 1, 2026: Thirteenth Edition of the Nice Classification

The 13th edition of the Nice Classification will take effect on January 1, 2026. The Nice Classification is the international classification of goods and services used for the registration of marks. New editions are published every three years, with annual updates to each edition.

China has Amassed 5 Million Invention Patents, Emphasizing Quality over Quantity

China has become the first country to amass over 5 million valid domestic invention patents, and its international patent applications submitted via the Patent Cooperation Treaty have led globally for six consecutive years. By June 2025, the number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 people in China had reached 15.3, according to the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).
