WIPO Signs Memorandum of Understanding to Launch IP Finance Pilot Project in Colombia
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Colombia’s National Planning Department and Banco Itaú to launch a pilot project on intellectual property financing in Colombia. The initiative marks an important step in exploring how intellectual property (IP) can be better recognized in financing processes, helping innovative businesses, expand access to finance and strengthen Colombia’s innovation ecosystem.

IP5 Discuss the Future Utilization of AI Technology
On June 12, 2026, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) hosted the 19th IP5 Heads of Office Meeting. The meeting brought together the five offices from Japan, Europe, Korea, China, and the United States. During the meeting, progress was reviewed on the roadmap for new emerging technologies and artificial intelligence (the IP5 NET/AI Roadmap), originally formulated at the 2021 IP5 Heads of Office Meeting. Recognizing the growing importance of AI, the IP5 Offices agreed on new directions for future cooperation and decided to establish a dedicated working group to advance practical discussions and initiatives.
