The generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) patent landscape has reached a new milestone, with more new patents published in 2024 and 2025 than in the entire preceding ten years combined, according to new data published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

USPTO announced Madrid e-Filing as the new platform for international trademark filings

the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) announced it will transition outbound international trademark filings from the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) to the Madrid e-Filing system (Madrid e-Filing). Between now and September 30, applicants may continue to file international applications through TEAS or start using Madrid e-Filing. Beginning October 1, 2026, Madrid e-Filing will be the sole platform for filing initial international trademark applications based on U.S. applications.
